Prophylaxis against legionella

Legionella find their natural source in freshwater and are thermophile bacteria whose ideal growth range is between 30-45°C. If legionella reach the lungs in a mist of droplets, which can happen in the shower or with humidifiers and air conditioning systems, this can cause Legionnaire's Disease.
At least 90% of the microorganisms are bound in biofilms on the surfaces of water installations, and less than 10% are free in water and only some of them can be detected in water samples. The detection methods are still quite unreliable or too inaccurate. A latent hazard for potable water hygiene which is unfortunately all too readily played down by experts.
Years of experience have shown: if you want to keep away the germs, you have to remove their sanctuary, in particular the biofilms, but also deposits and above all slime, from potable water containers and systems and at the same time treat them with a disinfection agent that has a lasting effect. CARELA® BIO-DES, a cleaning disinfectant, has proved successful for this. |
